Club`s top life tip of the week: Bring back some excitement. Make a point of having something big on your agenda, like planning your next holiday, or writing a novel (you don’t have to get it published). It gives you a reason to get out of bed in the morning, and something to work towards.

How To Change a Flat Tyre |
|
|
Do you want to be able to change a tyre without having to ask for help? Luckily for you, this is a pretty simple task, if you don’t mind a little bit of elbow grease.
Follow these easy steps:- Make sure that you are on stable ground (avoid hills). It’s a good idea to place a heavy object in front of the front tyre (if changing a rear tyre), and vice versa.
- Get the spare tyre and the jack. Place the jack under the frame near the tyre that you are going to change. Make sure you place it where it will meet the metal portion of the frame.
- Before lifting, remove the hub cap and loosen the nuts about a third to half the way.
- Pump the jack to lift the tyre off the ground.
- Loosen lugnuts with a cross wrench. Place the right size socket of the wrench on the lugnut and spin counter-clockwise until it’s loose. Repeat this with all lugnuts, then remove the nuts completely.
- Remove the tyre.
- Place the flat tyre under the car so that if the jack fails, the car will fall on the old wheel.
- Place the spare tyre on the wheel, taking care to align the rim of the spare tyre with the wheel bolts, and tighten the nut as much as possible. To ensure the tyre is balanced, don’t completely tighten the nuts one at a time. Going in a circle around the tyre, one nut after another, give each one a full turn until they are equally tight.
- Lower the car to the ground but do not put full weight on it yet. Finish tightening the nuts as much as possible.
- Lower the car to the ground fully. Remove the jack. Tighten the nuts again.
- Replace the hubcap.
- Put the old tyre in your trunk and take it to a mechanic.
Warning:- Do not use the lug wrench when putting the nuts back on. Use your hands, as this will prevent you from misthreading the lug.
- Be aware of your surroundings. If you’re on a busy road, be particularly wary of vehicles driving by that might get too close.
