How To Make a Plastic Pocket Organiser

If you’re lacking space and don’t know where to set up a table with baskets or boxes, try a plastic pocket organizer. They’re easy to make and you can hang it on the back of a door, so it’s out of the way.

Equipment and materials:
  • Soft plastic sheeting
  • Double-sided tape
  • Suction caps, crocodile clips or string for hanging on the door
  • Scissors
  • Writing equipment
  • Cardboard

Method:
  1. Using cardboard, cut a template of the organiser (50cm wide and 80cm long) that can be traced onto the plastic sheeting.
  2. Trace template onto the plastic sheeting and cut out the shape.
  3. Cut the pockets out on the cardboard. The dimensions are 21cm across and 15cm down.
  4. Trace onto the plastic sheeting and cut out the shape.
  5. Fold in 5cm on each side of your plastic pocket.
  6. Fold back half (2.5cm) of the 5cm on each side.
  7. On the remaining 2.5cm on each side of your plastic pocket, stick a strip of double-sided tape.
  8. Carefully stick a strip of the tape to the bottom of the pocket, covering the folds on either side as well.
  9. Arrange the pockets as you would like them on the sheet.
  10. Stick the pocket to the original sheet.

To make bigger pockets simply increase the size of your cardboard template and follow the same method.
