Your Kitchen Cupboard Basics

Here are the basics you should always have at hand:

Canned Foods:

  • Baked beans
  • Soup
  • Pulses – chickpeas, kidney beans, lentils, etc.
  • Fish – pilchards, sardines, tuna, etc.
  • Corned beef
  • Sweetcorn
  • Tomatoes
  • Tomato puree/paste


Bottles & Jars:

  • Mayonnaise
  • Vinegar
  • Olive or vegetable oil
  • Tomato sauce (ketchup)
  • Long-life milk


Fridge:

  • Milk
  • Eggs
  • Cheese
  • Carrots
  • Potatoes
  • Onions
  • Garlic


Dried Goods:

  • Dried pulses – lentils, beans, etc.
  • Pasta
  • Flour
  • Rice
  • Porridge or maize meal
  • Pap
  • Sugar


Herbs & Spices:

  • Stock cubes
  • Pepper
  • Salt


Freezer:

  • Fish fingers
  • Oven chips
  • Mixed vegetables or stir fry vegetables
  • Chicken portions
  • Minced pork or beef
  • Burgers
  • Pizza bases
