Q: I had sex with a girl and the condom burst. I knew that she was HIV positive, but I thought condoms would protect me. I haven’t seen her since then. What are the chances of me being infected? Please help me.
A: Apparently, it is easier for a man to infect a woman with Aids than it is for a woman to infect a man because of the bodily fluids which are exchanged during sexual intercourse. That means that if you were HIV negative before this event, and you haven’t done anything to endanger yourself, you may not have been infected.
Of course, the best way for you to be sure, is to go to your doctor and have a HIV/Aids test. This is something you should do regularly for your own information, and to help you be responsible about declaring your status truthfully to partners in the future.
