Dealing With An Empty Nest

After years of raising a family together, it’s just the two of you again. You’ll need to adapt to having just each other for company, but you’ll also have the chance to rekindle the love you felt when you first met.

Spend Quality Time Together

  • Start doing all those things that you never had time for before, like going to movies or out to eat.
  • Do something that you’ve always waned tot do but have never had the time for, like ballroom dancing or learning a new language.

  • Have a date night every week or month where you take it in turns to choose somewhere special to go or something different to do.
  • Go for a walk on the beach and hold hands.
  • Spend time cooking together. Plan the menu, shop for groceries at the supermarket and cook up a storm together. Nothing beats a home-cooked dinner whipped up by the both of you.
  • Take up a hobby together, like gardening which allows you to be outside in the sunshine and fresh air, giving you and your partner time to talk while you are working. The end result will be a beautiful garden and renewed connection between you and your partner.

Nostalgic Dates
Do your remember where you and your partner had your first kiss or when they first told you they loved you? Take a trip down memory lane with these great ideas:

  • Find an old favourite photograph of the two of you, put it in a frame and use it decorate the table when you have supper.
  • Have your first dance song from your wedding playing when your partner gets home.
  • Plan a day trip for your loved one – revisit all significant and memorable places and relive those old days together. Have fun and reminisce about the good old times.
  • Spend an evening on the couch looking at old photo albums of your wedding day or a scrapbook of a holiday together.
